Under 12s beat weather, and St Peters

Anybody say 'Cricket'? Cue: torrential downpour, flooded wicket and a game very nearly cancelled after a day of fine weather.
You could have gone fishing on the west square artificial strip, so we moved over to the lovely new strip on the east square and managed to get the game under way at about 6.15pm
Put into bat, Felix and Kyle were just getting going when Felix miscued a full toss (again) and was caught with the score on 27 after 6 overs. The next wicket came at 95, 8 overs later. Kyle had retired on 28 after hitting the ball beautifully through the off side, Finley had played himself in with some singles and then hit 3 fours in a row, soon retiring on 25, and Alfie had smacked the ball about from the moment he came in - eventually bowled by a very high full toss for 23. Jacob, Dorian and Matt ran hard to put on a few more and we finished with a very respectable 128 off the 20 overs.
Despite a wicket from Felix in the 4th over, it wasn't looking good for us, as 2 of the younger batsmen in the St Peter's team batted superbly to take their score to 58 after 10 overs. After one retired and one was bowled by Alfie, we were able to slow the scoring right down as they were missing several key players. With some tighter bowling and great fielding and catching from Dorian and Charlie we were on top, with Bradley getting some good bounce from the pitch. Joel and Fraser then mopped up the tail to leave St Peters 42 runs short.
Another good performance - can we keep it going.....?
