Thanks to some strong batting and captain Alfie channelling his inner American motivator persona the under 12s take top spot in the league this evening.
Things started well as Felix and Kyle opened solidly, both retiring on 25*, and it wasn't until the 11th over that St Andrews took a wicket, with the score at 64. Finley managed a couple of defensive shots before reverting to character with a six and a couple of fours for a quick 20.
After that we slowed up a bit and finished on 116 for 4 after the 20 overs.
A wicket maiden for Felix in the first over, and then a wicket for Matthew left the home team on 0-2 after 2 overs. Alfie kept up the energy in the field and rotated bowlers well so that 7 took wickets, including Max, who bowled superbly in his first match for the club, finishing with 3 for 8 from his 3 overs. Is anybody reading this? There was some excellent fielding and catching from Jacob at backward point and James at midwicket and our bowling was good enough to keep the game beyond St Andrews' reach. The all round performance and team spirit build from game to game, as does the energy and noise in the field.
