A second successive defeat dampened the spirits of the under 12s

The under 12s lost by 54 runs to St Andrews on a very wet evening at the Nevill.

With Harry already missing due to a sore heel, Jack, Alex and Kyle all turned up nursing illness or injury.

Jack won the toss and put St Andrews in to bat. Aidan and Kyle made the usual good start restricting the openers to just 39 off the first 8 overs. However St Andrews then accelerated away putting on 98 in the last 12 overs with three players retiring not out when reaching 25.

Ollie H and Fin started reasonably with Ollie hitting two glorious successive fours but with those two and George going in quick succession it was left to Aidan to pick up the pieces. He made a creditable 18 including three fours and was ably assisted by Dylan whose obdurate resistance was finally broken when he was run out. With the rain continuing to fall throughout the innings only Kyle and Scott were left undefeated at the end but by then the target was well out of sight.

Aidan was man of the match for the second game in a row for his performance with both bat and ball. Credit should also go to Alex and Jack for carrying on despite illness and to Kyle for playing despite stomach pain which meant that he bowled spin rather than pace and Jack had to act as his runner when batting.

Thanks also to Sean for umpiring in such miserable conditions.
