On another cold night at the Nevill the under 12s fell 13 runs short in chasing St Peter's total of 117.
Batting first St Peter's started comfortably, putting on 41 for the first wicket in just over 7 overs. However two wickets from Alex in one over changed the mood. He was aided by a great catch by Alpha who somehow managed to get his fingers under one on his toes. Some tight bowling in particular from Kyle (who clean bowled top scorer Tom Clarke for 16) kept the score down to 79 from 16 overs with Will also picking up a wicket in an excellent over. However a costly 3 overs then put St Peter's on 114 from 19 until Kyle rounded things off with two wickets from the final two balls.
Harry manfully stepped up to open the innings with Ollie H and despite some great defensive work could not keep a very quick one out from Charlie Goss. Ollie H was his reliable self scoring 11 and enjoying a good partnership with Kyle who scored a fine 28 before retiring. Will was deceived by the spin of Will Goss and the regular fall of wickets continued with Dylan, Aidan and Fin adding just 2 each. Joey was caught hitting out for 3 as he realised the required run rate was now increasing. After 16 overs we were on 82 (3 ahead of St Peter's at that point) but despite some sturdy batting from Ollie G, who finished with 11 not out, and Alex, who ran himself out on the final ball for 10, we could not find the extra runs needed.
Man of the match was Kyle for his terrific batting and bowling display.
