Under 11s lose in festival final

The under 11s were well beaten by a strong St Peters side in the festival final.

The under 11s won the toss and chose to bat but found the going very difficult against some excellent bowling. The first two overs by Charlie and William Goss were maidens with Ollie G missing one in the second over to leave the team on 0 for 1. Jack came in and made 8 but was beaten by a very quick ball from Charlie Goss who finished with 1 for 8 from his 6 overs. Pick of the St Peters bowlers were the spinners, Jake Coupe and William Goss who each took 3 wickets. Batting against spin is definitely something for the team to work on! Ollie H made 11 but it was Kyle who made sure that we had a target that it was possible to defend, finishing with 42 not out. At the end he was ably assisted by Joey Vance who defended stoutly, making sure that we used up all 30 overs and finishing with a creditable 5 not out.

Unfortunately the early wickets that we desired were not to come. Aidan, Ollie H and Kyle each picked up a wicket but St Peters always looked in control while Charlie Goss was batting. He finished with 41 not out from only 46 balls as St Peters reached our total with only 16 overs gone.

On the day the better team won, but the under 11s can look back with pride on their performances in the festival this year having performed throughout with skill, application and a great team spirit.
